You Are Special to Me

By Cards

Hi All,

For today’s card I wanted to play with a newer supply in my arsenol. For this project I wanted to use my new Derwent Inktense pencils. These pencils are fantastic! They act like watercolor in that they can be blended and intensified depending on how much ink you layer, but the colors are truly bright and bold as the name suggests. I love using a water brush directly onto the tip of the pencil to gain control of the color and then use it on my project. Another way to use the pencils is to color your project directly, and then use a brush to blend out.

Here is the finished product:

Birthday Surprise Box

By Cards, Room Decor

Hi all,

How about something a little different than a card today? For today’s project I’d like to show you a variation on a card…it’s a birthday box! This box in particular was made with a recipient in mind. A friend had asked that I create a box that could contain a small birthday gift and a birthday message. I asked what type of color scheme the recipient would like and was given this color scheme. This box is 100% handmade and then decorated using my stash of all things crafty. The papers are from a DCWV 8×8 paper pack. The flowers and embellishments are just a variety of products from K & Co., Prima, and Basic Grey.

Here is the exterior of the box. It measures approximately 5″L x 5″ Wx 4″H. Although it looks like an ordinary box, the sides have been removed. Once the lid is removed from the box, the four walls collapse and create a bit of a surprise!

Close up of the lid embellishments created with Basic Grey chipboard stickers, Prima flowers and a metallic button brad. VERY dimensional =)

And here is the inside of the box. Once the lid is removed, the four walls collapse and create this visual. Super fun, elegant and colorful.

Celebrate with Style

By Cards

Hi all,

Hope you all are enjoying the new site and liking the projects that I have been posting up. I know I’m having a blast trying out new techniques and playing with some of the awesome products I have in my stash or that were given to me as gifts. For today’s card I wanted to explore the world of watercolor paper and Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I used a water-spritzing method to create “blobs” of ink that could blend together to create a background. I absolutely love the way the background turned out. I then used a Basic Grey chipboard embellishment and hand stamped a flourish to look like a stem.

Here is the finished product =)

Pattern Play – Card 6

By Cards

PP_participant

Hi all,

It’s the last day of pattern play and I’ve got one last card to show ya! The theme for today is paper manipulation. Basically we were shown several ways to take paper and use it in a different way than how it is usually intended. I used the technique of combining soft tones to create a quilted image.

Here it is!

Papers used from scraps! Now I have a use from all those small pieces I save.
