Holiday Place Card Holder

By Cards

Hi all!

As we quickly approach the start of a beautiful holiday season, I thought I’d share a quick project for those of you who are looking to dress up your table-scape this Thanksgiving (or Christmas). This is a quick and easy idea for those work/dinner/church/just-for-fun type parties coming up this winter.

Here’s what you need to do:

Supplies:

Cutting shears – something that will cut through twigs/small branches

Regular Cutting Scissors

Hot glue gun – or any type of strong adhesive

Paper – holiday themed craft paper

Twine– optional

Step-by-step

1) Grab your cutting shears and head outside and gather up some sticks, branches, pine needles, foliage. Beware of thorns or critters 😉

2.) Trim down your branches and foliage to the size you desire.

3.) Trim off all those little needles to reveal just a branch. I used branches from pine bushes but if you have a bare tree, those branches work just as well.

4.) Trim down the branches to your 3″ – 4″ lengths.

5.) “Sandwich” 2 sticks together and adhere with a dot of hot glue on both ends. Add in a small bit of foliage to one side and again adhere with a dot of glue. You can also tie it all in with using twine.

*** Note, I’m not sure how long these will sit considering they are made of natural elements. Mine were created over 24 hours ago, and are still in perfect condition.

Hope you give this project a try! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey all,

Welcome we’re down to 4 days left of the series! Whoa! Christmas is right around the corner.

Here’s a fun little card featuring wood veneers (used to make the trees) and some fun stamped and colored elements (the snowman & bird). These 2 friends are totally in the holiday spirit.

Got some fun cards coming up and a MONSTER of a project to share on the last day so stay tuned folks ~ it’s gonna be good.

Holiday Cards 2014 – Day 15

By Cards

Hi All,

Welcome to Day 15! We are three quarters of the way through the series!

I’m back with another paper-pieced card. This type of card seems to be a big hit this year. Similar to the Snowy village card (Day 10) this card uses 7 different cuts to complete this image. When layered together they almost fit together like a puzzle. The only piece that has any dimensions added are the trees.

Holiday Cards 2014 – Day 14

Hi All,

Welcome to another day of holiday cards!

Today’s card is VERY dimensional and ornate. This card features 2 coordinating patterned papers & a gold embellishment from an entirely different collection. In order to pull the 2 together, I maintained a leaf pattern and made sure it wasn’t too busy. To finish off the card I tied some ribbon behind the embellishment to give it the look of a hanging ornament.

This is a great project for card-makers who have many leftover cuts from other projects and would like to create using ‘leftovers’.
