Holiday Gift Card Holder Using SVG Cut Files – Part 2 of 4

This is card 2 in my mini-series of holiday gift card holders. Both the bag and the Joy sentiment come from the free SVG’s files from SVGCuts.com. The papers are from DCWV stack and is great material to use with the die cutting machine. It cuts crisp and clean. I think it will be a go-to brand when it comes to my svg files. As you may notice I have a ribbon attached to the handle of the bag. The ribbon is attached so I can hang it from our christmas tree with ease. I love the way this came together. So beautiful these pictures really don’t do them enough justice.

Holiday Gift Card Holder Using SVG Cut Files – Part 1 of 4

Hi all,

WOW! Can you believe Christmas is almost here! I’ve just finished buying most of my gifts. This year, I have several gift cards that needed wrapping. Although there are tons of great holiday wrapping out there, I think it’s extra special when you take the time to create something handmade. I think it shows you put thought into the gift. I created each “bag” with an actual recipient in mind and tailored the layouts to fit either a masculine or feminine color scheme.

To wrap my gifts, I used a giftbag shape from SVGCuts.com. I am a big fan of this site and love so many of their designs. If you have a die cutting machine, you need to check them out. Back to the project – I chose color themes and embellishments for each bag with a recipient in mind. Some were more masculine themed and some more feminine themed.

This is one of the bags I created. I’ll be sharing the others as I finish them.

Christmas Card Using Acetate Sentiment

It’s almost Christmas time! I’m getting into the spirit of the holidays and wanted to share a holiday card I made. It is a very easy to make and has great detail. I recently discovered acetate embellishment packs at my local craft store. This pack had beautiful vintage style prints on the clear plastic material. To adhere the pieces down I used some liquid glue on just the parts that had print on them (so the glue wouldn’t show through the clear parts). I couldn’t believe how quickly a card could come together using this type of embellishment! How fun!

As I am getting more and more into cardmaking it is becoming clear that I need to invest into some better quality materials to work with. I especially feel the need to invest into some thicker cardstock than I am currently using. These last few weeks of creating have me feeling so inspired!

Experimenting with SCAL2

Hi all,

Today I’d like to share a card I made using a software called Sure Cuts A Lot 2 (SCAL2). SCAL really opens a whole new door of images and designing by allowing me to trace drawings as well as design my own images in Illustrator and then cut them on my Cricut.

I wanted to try making a thanksgiving card that wasn’t traditional. I didn’t want to create a simple pumpkin or turkey card, but more of a harvest theme. I found an image online and used SCAL to trace the image. It was a bit time consuming to fit the pieces together like a puzzle but I am happy with the way it turned out.

This was purely experimental as I wanted to know just how detailed I could get with the images I trace or create. Next time I may use less detail – but it was a great learning experience.Thanks for visiting!
