Holiday Cards 2014 – Day 3

By Cards

Welcome to day 3 of my Holiday Card Series 2014!

christmas_reindeer

This card is created in a similar fashion to yesterday’s tree card. This time instead of a tree design I simply created a reindeer cut-out shape. Next, I added a red offset to each of the cuts. Same concept as yesterday but a completely different look!

For the reindeer I heat embossed the green color using a pearl emerald color. Can you tell it isn’t as ‘flat’ as the papers? That’s my trick to making him stand out 😉

Hope you’re enjoying the series and I’ll see you next time for Day 4!

Supplies:

Card Base: Bazzil 8.5 x 11 in Marshmallow

Papers: American Crafts 6×6 Noel Collection (sentiment also comes from the paper pack)

Ribbon: Crate Paper Die-Cut

Reindeer: Created using Silhouette Studio

Embossing: Stampendous Pearl Embossing Powder in Emerald Green

Other: pearls, eyelets and various adhesives

Holiday Cards 2014 – Day 2

By Cards

Hi All,

Welcome to Day 2 of my Holiday Cards 2014 series!

seasons_greetings

Today’s card features the use of my Silhouette SD (cutting machine). I contemplated using several different types of Christmas tree-shapes, but ended up using something a little more ‘outside-the-box’. I created a simple rectangular layout and then added in a small insert for a multi-layered look. These cards a super quick and easy to mass produce. The nice thing about this card is that it can technically be made with an craft knife as well (a little more sensible for my readers who don’t own cutting machines).

Here’s a quick how-to video to show you the assembly process.

I love the simplicity of this card and it came together rather quickly. Very chic!

Hope you enjoyed and I’ll catch you next time for Day 3!

Think Pink – Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge

By Cards

Thinking Of You

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a time when we bring awareness to the fight for a cure. It’s especially a time when organizations show their support for fundraising and awareness. So as you could imagine, I was pleased to find that many crafters were also participating by creating fun challenges for their readers. I decided to join in on the fun too.

Robyn, My Pink Stamper, asked her viewers to join her in a Think Pink challenge in which she asked crafters to use pink patterns as a base for a card. Here is the design I came up with to contribute to the challenge.

I cut 1 inch squares using several papers and created a pink grid. I added in a ribbon and used a back-folding technique for extra texture. I used my circuit die cutting machine to create some cancer ribbons and a heart. Lastly, I used a simply sentiment and stamped it in black.

I think it turned out pretty well for one of my first attempts at a greeting card! More than anything, I simply enjoy participating in a noteworthy cause.
